Civility in critiquing the ideas of others is no vice. Rudeness in defending your own ideas is no virtue.

As a convenience, each session now has a link to the black and white and color PDFs for the session slides.  You have to be able to sign on to Lotusphere On-Line, but it may be a bit easier to navigate from our sessions database than from Lotusphere On-Line, even though they do have lots of nifty Ajax whiz-bang views.  Makes no difference to me, but I thought it might help some people.

Andrew Pollack (who answered the slightly off-topic question "Are you the fire fighter guy?" about session JMP301) and John Head (who answered the more serious "How much overlap is there with this and Lotus Symphony Day?" about session BP215) are the first two speakers to respond to questions about their sessions in the Lotusphere Sessions db, but I am quite sure they won't be the last.  More questions are starting to filter in, from questions about which versions are covered to follow ups on last year's sessions and whether this year's will be different.  It isn't a flood of questions yet, but I still think it is exciting.  Also, more speakers are putting up links on their blogs to guide people to the on-line version where they can ask questions.

While I made the slides a while back, and while I will use them, or some of them, in some fashion, my BP201 A Jug of Wine, a Spreadsheet, and Thee (web link) presentation itself is shaping up to be quite unusual.  I was a bit worried when I started down this path, but it is really starting to work.  I hope the audience comes prepared to be a bit open minded.  I'm just not sure whether I hope Rocky will attend, as I might want him to let me do another session someday.

Gianugo Rabellino announced today an intention to acquire substantial stock in Parmalat.
Gianugo Rabellino (ZIP: 20033) and Parmalat (Milan: PLT.MI) announced today they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Mr. Rabellino will acquire a stock of six cartons of whole milk for €1.45 each. The offer is valued at approximately €8.70, plus 0.30€ tip for the delivery boy, to be paid entirely in cash (no freakin' corporate luncheon vouchers). "I expect this deal to provide me with at least 8g of fat", says Gianugo Rabellino, "of which no less than 5g saturated, which makes a great béchamel for my award-winning lasagne".
It just goes to prove that the business of the world is business... or something like that.

If you have downloaded this year's Lotusphere Sessions db earlier, but have not replicated recently with The Turtle Partnership public replica, here are a few tidbits you might have missed...

  • Ed Brill is no longer facilitating at the BOF301 The Lotus Blogging Community (web link), but the public website doesn't list his replacement, and neither does Lotusphere On-Line.  To find out who is taking his place, you need to replicate and see from our Sessions database, or read Ed's blog.
  • When are the lunch breaks at Lotusphere this year?  The public agenda lists them, but Lotusphere On-line doesn't make it easy to find out.  But they are listed in the sessions database if you replicate.
  • Want to know more about Lotusphere Idol?  You can search in vain on the public website, or you can dig around and find out when the auditions are on Lotusphere On-Line, but if you want to find out when the presentation itself is, you have to search the blogoshere... or just look in the sessions database at FUN108 Lotusphere IDOL Presentation and see the time and place included with the other sessions.
  • Finally, are you wondering what your fellow attendees are wondering?  Look in the Questions/Ideas view and see what people are asking about sessions you might want to attend.  Maybe you have those same questions?  Maybe you have others?  Now is the time to participate, but only if you replicate.
  • Are you a speaker?  Did you know that you can now answer or respond to questions/ideas (actually, anybody can - imagine, discussions in Notes!)?  You have to replicate first to see them.

Commercial over.
