Fixing up our RSS feed

Tue 14 Jun 2005, 11:29 PM

by Ben Langhinrichs
A reader mentioned that our weblog RSS feed was not validating and that it was causing trouble with his RSS reader.  We don't want that, so I fixed it up tonight, and took the opportunity to remove the date from the Subject.  My apologies if this means that all the recent stories show up as unread again, but it really is pretty annoying having the date in there, and the dc:date should take care of making it sort properly.  Please let me know if this new feed works for you, or if you have trouble with it.

Great stuff: your feed now works in NetNewsWire on the Mac. I thought I'd mailed you about it in the past, but I guess I didn't.

Anyway, good to have you in my aggregator Ben ;o)

It is quite possible you did let me know, but it must have been at a time when I had less free time to deal with it. Anyway, now your feed isn't valid. Sigh!

Ben, thanks for your fast reaction on my mail.

Your feed now works in my madicon RSS Reader. But give www.feedvalidator.org a try - there are some additional errors leftover.

Regards, Manfred

I would have tried www.feedvalidator.org, but it was down all day yesterday and the night before, so I used a couple of others. I'll look into that one as well if it is back up.

feedvalidator is OK now - I just double-checked my feed. I have a site bug in that any posts I make using the web interface (rather than the Notes client) result in iffy RSS.

Should be OK now though!
