Civility in critiquing the ideas of others is no vice. Rudeness in defending your own ideas is no virtue.

I went to the repeat of the security JumpStart that Gabriella Davis and Andrew Pollack gave yesterday, and it was fun.  No, not really, it was painful and horrible and I looked at the clock on my PC several times, convinced that time had stopped moving.  I had my PC because I was spending the time coding, because actually stopping and listening to an admin session might have killed me.

So, I should amend my statement.  It (the session) was not fun, but they (Gab and Andrew) were fun.  They kept things light, even providing updates on the Patriots/Chargers game and turning it on for the last few minutes.  They had good stories, told a few jokes but not so many it was awkward, and generally kept the session moving along.  I think that I may have even earned salvation learned something in the process.

I know that poking fun at Lotusphere On-Line is a bit like taking candy from a baby, but nonetheless...

In the Lotusphere On-Line discussion area, there is a Search box, which I know that on most systems would mean you were able to search, but (see my first sentence).  I think they are using Quickr, so this may be a buzzword overload issue, but the error message is:

Database not indexed.  Try again.

Isn't the definition of insanity to keep doing the same thing over and over hoping for different results?

There may be some error messages for which "Try Again" is a reasonable solution, but searching and searching a database which is not full text indexed certainly isn't.

We have gone over 6000 downloads for the Lotusphere Sessions database, and over 1000 for the Blackberry version (although there may well be overlap between those two).  Several speakers have used the Sessions database as part of their demos, as it is  handy and readily available source of recogniable data.  I may use it myself on Thursday (giving the subtle hint that my demos may not be 100% completely finished).  Every person I personally haave seen holding their Blackberry was looking at the Sessions app.

Don't forget, questions and ideas can still be posted before or after sessions!  Also, speakers, check to see if somebody has posted  question for you.  Replication is as easy as hitting the action in the view.  Once you have replicated, check the Questions/Ideas view or the Q&A tab on your session itself.
